There are no luddites left; surely everyone in the financial inclusion sector accepts the vital role financial technology plays. But is the future to be defined predominantly by fintechs/startups, or rather legacy FSPs that have undergone some form of digital transformation, on the client or back end side? Or are partnerships between both the only feasible way to drive the sector’s evolution? Can new models and platforms ever maintain the trust that the sector has always claimed is crucial? And what innovations are most likely to drive change - for better or worse - in the medium term future?

This closing session is part debate and part ‘fireside chat’ between Nasir Zubairi (CEO of LHoFT Foundation) and Sahana Arun Kumar (Managing Director of Amarante Consulting), moderated by Sam Mendelson (Financial Inclusion Specialist at e-MFP) and will involve plenty of audience participation to provide a fast-paced and interesting closure to EMW2024.
