Denitsa Berkhoff, Head of the Microfinance Unit at the EIB, is responsible for the impact investments of the Bank in the field of microfinance. She is leading the development and implementation of strategies for deepening the social and financial inclusion in developing countries with particular focus on women empowerment and women’s resilience, and support for underserved and vulnerable groups.
Mrs Berkhoff has over 20 years of professional experience in development finance and banking and has worked for leading policy-driven institutions and commercial banks. Prior to joining the EIB Group, Mrs Berkhoff was the Chief Risk Officer of SEB S.A. in Luxembourg. She holds a Master of Science in International Business and a Ph.D. in Economics with research focus on microfinance.
