Marjo is an inclusive and digital finance expert with more than 17 years of experience in banking, insurance, innovation, and impact investment. She is currently responsible for business development, strategy and governance at AXA EssentiALL, AXA inclusive insurance business, covering 14 million clients across Asia, Latin America, North and West Africa.

Marjo was previously Head of Private Sector Digital Innovation for the Better Than Cash Alliance Program at the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF). She worked with national and multinational companies to design digital payment solutions reaching unbanked smallholder farmers, workers, SME suppliers and distributors. She started her career as Vice-President in Citi Social Finance team, Citibank’s global business unit for inclusive financial services, where she executed debt investment for financial institutions in Africa, Asia and Latam. She has various experience structuring, launching and originating transactions for blended impact finance funds focusing on SME financing, agribusiness and fintech.

Marjo holds a Master of Finance from Sciences Po Paris and is a Certified Digital Finance Practitioner with Tufts University. She is trilingual in English, French and Spanish and sits on the Board of the European Microfinance Platform (e-MFP).
