Joana Afonso is Financial Inclusion Specialist at the European Microfinance Platform (e-MFP), overseeing coordination, research, and outputs of all the e-MFP Action Groups, being part of the content team organising the European Microfinance Week and the European Microfinance Award, and overseeing coordination of the European Research Conference on Microfinance. As coordinator of the Action Groups, Joana has coordinated multiple projects on diverse topics, including green inclusive finance (Green Map project), outcomes management, human resources, financial inclusion of refugees, and WASH. Since 2023, she is a Board member of SPTF. Before joining e-MFP, Joana was an academic researcher with her research focusing on evaluation methodologies in microfinance and prevention of client over-indebtedness. Joana began her microfinance career as a credit officer at the NGO ANDC in Portugal.

Bdour is the Senior Director of Strategic Planning and Business Development at the Microfund for Women. She is responsible for leading strategic planning and implementation, coordinating the development of the business plans and determining KPIs and milestones to track progress towards achieving the agreed business strategy. She is also responsible for the growth and optimization of organizational and individual performance and growing the bottom line while executing operational improvements and building successful partnerships to drive productivity and enhance organizational value proposition. Bdour successfully led the inclusion of refugees in MFW portfolio by streaming financial and non-financial services to them. In addition, she led the development of Green energy, Youth, start-up and microinsurance portfolios.
Bdour also identifies and establishes strong relationships with donors, funding organizations, and other key stakeholders and building solid pipelines for future business opportunities. She established a strong relationship with the Alttibi with more than one hundred thousand subscribers over three years.
She coordinates the design and administration of activities, including facilitating stakeholders’ dialogue with national organizations, bilateral donor agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and development partners (e.g. USAID, UNDP, EU). Bdour was able to secure grants of a value of more than JOD 10 million from different donors to serve different programs and areas.

Patrick Asingizwe was born in Luwero, Uganda, where he completed high school in 2010. Following his studies, he worked as a mechanic, developing valuable technical skills. Due to political circumstances, Patrick was compelled to leave Uganda, arriving in Luxembourg in February 2023, where he has since applied for international protection. While awaiting confirmation of his status, he has taken the initiative to pursue studies in hospitality and tourism in Diekirch. Anne-Laure Behaghel has worked extensively to advance client protection practices in financial services since 2013. She is a financial inclusion specialist, who has been working in the industry since the early 2000s, including six years in developing countries. She started working in the field of inclusive finance by launching two greenfield microfinance institutions, one in Mexico and the other in Senegal, taking up the position of chief financial officer in both institutions. She then joined Kiva, the pioneer in crowdfunding for microfinance, for whom she developed the portfolio in African French-speaking countries, conducting both social and investment due diligence to identify partners with a double bottom-line objective.

Ms. Burjorjee has played a pivotal role in advancing women's financial inclusion, helping to found and facilitate the first women's financial inclusion Community of Practice at the Consultative Group to Assist the Poor (CGAP) at the World Bank, which now has more than 10,000 members globally. Her influential research on women entrepreneurs in microfinance and in conflict and fragile environments, including Yemen, remains a key reference in the field.
She currently serves on the Board of Calvert Impact Capital, where she is a Director and a member of the Risk and Credit Committees. Calvert Impact Capital manages over $650 million in assets, focusing on investments that generate social and environmental impact alongside financial returns. In 2017 Aude co-created a new Global Partnership within the World Bank Social Protection and Jobs Unit (SPJ), the Partnership for Economic Inclusion (PEI), to help governments develop, implement, and scale economic inclusion programs to sustainably increase the income, assets, and economic resilience of extreme poor and vulnerable people. She was a Social Protection Specialist at PEI/SPJ until 2021 and co-edited and authored the World Bank flagship State of Economic Inclusion Report 2021 downloaded over 40,000 times.
Most recently, Aude has been Senior Advisor at BRAC’s Institute for Governance and Development working on digital innovations for Economic Inclusion programs. With close to 20 years of experience in financial inclusion, livelihoods, and social protection, Aude provides technical advice to economic inclusion programs worldwide. She has held speaking engagements at many high-level events on extreme poverty reduction including with Mohammed Yunus, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and Government of Brazil. Aude is currently based in Paris.
Before joining CGAP, she completed internships working on impact evaluation at PlaNet Finance, and with microfinance institutions in Lebanon and Togo. Aude holds a master’s degree (Summa Cum Laude) from the School of Political Science in Paris (Sciences-Po) with a specialization in development studies, and a bachelor's degree in history from the University of La Sorbonne. She is fluent in English and French, speaks Portuguese and Spanish, and has rudimentary German. Aude is currently based in Paris.
